| Essex County Council proposes to prohibit motor vehicles from using Fairmead Road from a point approximately 55yds south of its junction with Cross Roads for its entire length. There will be an exemption for agricultural and forestry vehicles.
LRA’s view:
Fairmead Road and parking provide a route into the heart of the Forest for disabled and less able people, and are much used for access by Epping Forest District Council Lifewalks; we think that the closure is unnecessary and vexatious to the public, and would be contrary to wider recreational access to the woodlands for the public.
Next steps
LRA Cllr Chris Pond will try to get the decision over-turned, or changed so that only the part south of the car park is closed. |
