Loughton Day, 25 July 1981

This was our first community project. We decided to host a special event to celebrate Loughton and show why it was so important for everyone to look after our town. We invited the older residents who knew Loughton as ‘the village’ so they could share their stories. We sought out local craftspeople who came and demonstrated their skills of all kinds. Children from the local schools performed, and there was a special children’s corner to encourage families to bring their children along. Lopping Hall was filled throughout the day, and it was a memorable occasion.
